The family shelter currently consists of three (3) separate 4 story buildings along St, John’s place in the Crown Heights section of Brooklyn. The scope of the project is to fully renovate the dwelling units on the 2nd through the 4th Floors and a change in use for the Ground Floor to include support offices and additional housing units on the Ground Floor. In addition to the interior renovations, each building is being provided with new roofs, restored facades, cleaned and painted fire escapes, new windows and fully renovated interior courtyards with playgrounds. The base building heating systems are being renovated to fully separate the heating systems with new boilers being installed. The buildings are also being fully sprinkled and provided with new fire alarm systems. The first of the three buildings is expected to be ready for occupancy in late spring of 2024. Client families will be moved to the newly renovated building from the 2nd building, allowing construction to begin at that property. The 2nd building has a planned completion and occupancy in the summer of 2025. The last of the three buildings is scheduled to be completed in the summer of 2026.
